I spent last weekend doing something ridiculous: running 20 side-by-side tests between Google's Gemini Ultra 2.0 and OpenAI's GPT-5.
Yes, I have no life. Yes, it was worth it.
Ballar thinks I'm crazy. "Just pick one and move on," he said. But I needed to know. We use AI every day at ParallelTech — for debugging, documentation, brainstorming. The choice matters.
The winner: It depends (I know, annoying answer)
- Coding: Tie. Both are excellent.
- Research with real-time info: Gemini wins. The Google Search integration is a game-changer.
- Creative writing: GPT-5 wins. Gemini is too formal.
My recommendation for ParallelTech
We're keeping both. GPT-5 for creative writing. Gemini for research and real-time info.
For most people? Pick Gemini if you need real-time info. Pick GPT-5 if you want better writing and personality.
Or do what I did: pay for both and call it a business expense.
